Conventional wisdom and many history books have it that a falling out between Benjamin Franklin and his older brother James led to Ben's exodus from Boston to Philadelphia at age 17 or so. Suppose, for whatever reason, that this falling out didn't happen?
Does Ben become his brother's partner in the printing business, and remain in Boston? Or at some point does he decide that his horizons are too limited there and leave anyhow? Or is he able to flex his intellectual muscle in New England instead of the Delaware Valley?
