Belgium after a Central Powers victory?

What becomes of Belgium under a Central Powers victory of any relevant year of your choosing?

Probably rendered a forcibly demilitarized state and joined into a German lead customs and currency union in any case. Britain, while she cant keep the country out of the German orbit with a broken France, also can't tolerate German aligned naval forces pointed at the Channel, meaning a compromise of completely defanging Brussels seems likly. As for the fate of the Congo... that's a question of the agreement over the post war date of Germany's overseas empire.

If the Central Powers won the war, France would be losing territory, not gaining it.

Germany would be interested in a friendly France and a divide between the Continental Entente and the British. The Germans, the competent, realpolitik ones, would make sure to not cripple France to the point that they would be irreconcilable. The Belgian Congo could be split up as well.

A demilitarized state in an economic union with Germany, i think. Maybe two Belgium: a flamen belgium and a french-speaking belgium? So there is two little enemies instead of one medium enemy.

They had already Federalized the Belgium Kingdom under there Military Command
Giving the Flemish right to self-government, (something the ruling Walloon elite always opposed)

Territorial changes, everything east of river meuse would become part of Prussia kingdom, means allot of Towns like Liege, Huy and Namur become divided.
The local Walloons had two choice: leave there homes and move to Walloon, or stay and learn German

German Military presence in Belgium, according some documents, the Germans Army wanted to take over several Fortresses in Belgium and use them.
Next to that the Harbor of Antwerp would be enlarged for German Navy and mercantile marine demands.

Depends how and when CPs win the war but most plausible thing is that Belgium becomes German puppet and Germany gets Belgian Congo.

Congo ceded to Germany, Belgium evacuated and not incorporated into MittelEuropa in exchage for treaties with Britain and France not to erect punitive trade barriers against Germany around the world.

No, Germany is very interested in a crippled France.

Depends on the negotiation. If the UK is willing to trade concessions (i.e. return/expansion of the German colonial empire), then Belgium can be free, neutral, and demilitarized. If the UK refused to offer meaningful concessions, then the Belgians fall under a more German plan. I would expect then for

  • Belgium coast to be militarized including some German naval bases.
  • Industrial areas to be under effective German control.
  • Belgium either to have no meaningful military or Belgium to have its military under German control
Now we may or may not see annexations, but de facto, we see German control.

They disagreed pretty much. Take only Liege / Lüttich? Annex Flanders, make Wallonia a satellite? Or the other way round? Maybe give Wallonia to France, in exchange for other areas?

Only certainty for Belgium in a CP victory is at most, the Belgian Congo goes to Germany. That is much a guarantee as I can imagine, though whether they can retain it is another matter entirely.

Beyond that it's up in the air, ranging from a German satellite state, annexation of Eastern Wallonia, divided between Flanders and Wallonia, total annexation, et.al.

Some of the CP plans seemed to have small territory gains for France in Belgium although those gains are more than overshadowed by the territories which France would lose to Germany.

Yes, the Belgium Colony Congo would be annexed by German Empire to form the core of new Colony "Mittleafrika"

On Ideas what the Germans had in mind with Belgium there were Severals proposal
- Belgium a Tribute state for German Empire
- member of Zollunion the common German economic market
- Expansion of Belgium towards west by giving them French territory

How far this Expansion would be was never explain in detail or the paper went lost during ww2
A logical version would look like this:

- French Flanders to Federal state of Flanders
- Pas de Calais and french Hainaut to the Walloon , last one cut off the north industrial basin from France and put under German Control.

This would crippled France economically

Bulgaria would be getting and holding Konstantinyye only in its dreams. They're totally surronded by and now filled with folks who hate their guts and temporary opportunistic co-bellugerents to Germany at best (who isen't even in a good position to help them).
