It certainly would be interesting to see how the great powers would react to the Belgian Socialist Party declaring Walloon independence. Might we see civil war?
The US Army stationed in Belgium after the War, would have there hands full to keep them peaceful.
the British and French have sufficed problems there self.
This would be first case for U.N. who learn the hard way, who to deal with countries like Belgium.
The Benefit of this will be that U.N. will deal better in following crisis and civil wars.
on long term Belgium would be split into Socialist republic of Wallonia and the Kingdom of Flanders
while Brussels forms a city state and Germans speaking community return into west Germany occupation zone.

I'm not sure about this. Katanga was the wealthiest part of the Congo and I'm not sure the United States would allow it to come under the control of a Socialist state like Wallonia even if it would be the more industrialized of the two.
