Bismarck and Moltke presented the French negotiators in 1871 at the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War with a choice: they could allow the German armies to hold a victory march in Paris, or they could cede the fortress of Belfort and its accompanying surrounding region of Alsace. In OTL, the French picked the former.

WI, however, the French negotiators were either worried about the far left presence in Paris or simply too proud to allow a victory march, and ceded Belfort to Germany? How would this have affected a WW1-analogue?
