Hello. I want to create a Q-BAM world map with beautiful borders (historical and a-historical).
Which borders and variations of them are from your perspective beautiful and aesthetic?
Which degree of balkanization or federalization leads to a beautiful result?
Which historic or a-historic or alternate countries have especially beautiful borders?
How to make various borders aesthetic?

Prefer a decent ammount of irregularity. Some cases if bordergore like Ferghana are.okay, but this should really be an exception rather than a rule. You should have big states next to big states, and smaller states next to smaller states...

If possible, avoid straight lines, if there are candidates for better birders, like drainnage divides...
The only environment where straight lines as borders do make sense are deserts.
Also, if possible try to avoid the Russo-Kazakh border (a.k.a that damn Kazakh border)

How much balkanization is beautiful, and how much balkanization is too much?
I guess, for Germany for example I prefer the degree of Balkanization between 1815-1866, while pre Napoleonic borders are too complicated, and a united Germany is boring.
I guess, the US and Canada have ugly shapes and ugly borders, but there are not that many traditional ways to balkanize them compared to various regions of Europe.
Maybe Croatia has a beautiful shape from an aesthetic perspective.
