What if it is decided to have the Bismarck wait until her sister ship is ready for action later in 1941 or in 1942? Obviously the Hood is still around and the naval situation in 1942 is very different, so what decisions are made then? Do Raeder and Hitler risk making a break for France, stay in port, or are they used in action against the Arctic convoys to Russia? The fuel situation is much worse in 1942, especially as the Germans are pushing toward the Caucasus for oil, but a shorter trip north of Norway isn't so far.
What about British responses? Do they try doubly as hard to go after both ships? Do they double up on escorts for the northern convoys?
