Battleship names

The Wikipedia page for the King George V class battleship indicates that:

Prince of Wales was planned as King Edward VIII,
Duke of York as Anson
Anson as Jellicoe
Howe as Beatty

If KEVIII hadn't abdicated before the class was completed, I would assume that she would have become the lead ship of the class and KGV may have been renamed (my understanding is that she was named thusly for 'continuity' post abdication rather than after KGVI as would have been traditional), or the names rotated: Perhaps our KGV would have become KEVIII and our POW taken another name.

I don't seem to be able to find much corroboration for the original names. Does anyone know how true this is?

Also, on a related note, Lion/Thunderer/Conqueror/Temeraire are names associated with the first four Lion class fast battleships. I'm not aware of any for the other two...? Though things being different perhaps Vanguard...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Leviathan
Mars
Colossus
Dreadnought
Britannia

Two of those were given to Light Fleet Carriers (Colossus Class and Majestic Class HMS Leviathan respectively (latter also title of good book by John Winton..)) So I wonder if that suggests the RN didn't see them as capital ship names? Same with Mars - that was HMS Pioneer's carrier name before she was commissioned as a maintenance ship and the name of a Minotaur/Swiftsure class cruiser that was never laid down.

Reuse of Dreadnought is an interesting one, but Brittania was the name of a shore installation.

First of the Light fleet carriers was not ordered and laid down until 1942 - the 6 Lions were planned from 1938 and the first 3 and possibly 4th where all ordered in 1939 with Lion and Temeraire actually laid down - so had they not been cancelled the 5th and 6th units would very likely have been ordered in late 39 early 40 - so with the exception of the 'Stone Frigate' HMS Britannia (good spot) the others should still be free in the period that these 6 battleships are ordered/laid down.

My query here wasn't that the names would be taken but that they weren't given to capital ships...

I'm pottering round an ATL and my notes were:

KGV(as @)
Lion, Conqueror, Temeraire, Monarch (last two cancelled)
'Pacific/Austerity fast battleship/battlecruiser' (built as per Vanguard using twin 15 inch turrets) Vanguard, Beatty, Jellicoe, Princess Royal.
