Battle of Vorskla river

Hello thats my first post here :) im am old reader of this forum and now i decided to register at last :D so i have always wondered about battle of Vorskla River http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Vorskla_River it had a great impact on Vytautas East policy and also ruined his plans to become a king. So my question is: does winning this battle would have made any long-term benefit to Lithuania? maybe it could at last become dominant power in Russian lands?

Winning that battle only and not follow it up had only strenghten Golden Horde more from Timurids. But it was a 'crusade' so they would most probably follow it up :), giving Lithaunia atleast more influence over the Golden Horde ( I think )

The primary objective of that expedition was to help Tokhtamysh to retake the throne. This wouldn't give more influence over the Golden Horde than they got later supporting Tokhtamysh's desceandants in their struggle over the throne of the Golden Horde.

I doubt it. Vitautas was Catholic, i.e., ineligible for Eastern Russian thrones, and Moscow was way too strong to be defeated easily. On the other hand, Vitautas had to be Catholic, because of Teutonic Knights threat.
