Would the defeat have dealt a major blow to the power base of the Abbasid Caliphate?
Would the Tang have been able to secure their hold on Central Asia?
And would the result of maintaining that position and the additional wealth from controlling that vital trade route have left the Chinese in a stronger position to resist or even defeat Ghengis Khan, or perhaps even meddle to the point where he is unable to unify the Mongols?
