Battle of Long Island at night

On August 27th 1776, General Howe trapped Washington and his troops on Long Island. With Washington trapped on the island Howe planned to attack and destroy the Americans following morning, expecting an easy victory.

However, Washington a skilled navigator escaped through the woods. Thus saving the continental army. The continental army was outnumbered 30,000 men plus German mercenaries to under 10,000 men.

What if General Howe, anxious to crush the rebellion, did not wait the night to attack long island but launched an evening assault at Washington.

a night time battle in that time period? Anything goes due to the ensuing chaos. Maybe even the Americans pull off a win? Doubtful...
