In 1187 the Kingdom of Jerusalem suffered the worst defeat in it's history, which resulted in the near total collapse of the kingdom. All because of one relatively minor error. Instead of waiting for Saladin's army outside of Acre, where there were adequate supplies of water, King Guy ordered to army across a waterless desert where it fell into a trap. It seems likely that had he waited at Acre, either he would have defeated Saladin, or Saladin would have withdrew. Thoughts?
