Battle of Hastings

The battle of Hastings took place in England on October 14th 1066. The battle was a decisive one Harold II of England lost a close battle and was killed. The face of England was changed forever. The English were brutally suppressed by William and the peasants who had been more or less free became little better than slaves with the Feudal system the Normans introduced.

So i got to wondering did Harold II make a mistake in fighting the battle then. He could have waited a few days for reinforcements that were on the way but he fought the battle and lost.

If he had waited and fought the battle with a rested and stronger army and won how would England have developed

Hi Albonia, welcome to the board.

There have been a few attempts at this one on here, including a timeline or two. I did one myself that petered out hopelessly around 1115.

If you go to the search option above and type "Hastings 1066" you should get quite a few interesting threads.

Welcome again.
