Since we're into the second half, and since the Cardinals in particular have an excellent chance of winning both halves of their division title, let me unveil my postseason plans for divisions where one team wins both halves:

There will still be a Division Series; the dual champion will host all five potential games, similar to the modern Wild Card series. Their opponent will be the second-place team with the better record for their half of the season. In the East, the record to beat is the Phillies' 45-36; in the West. it's the Astros' 44-37.

If there's a tie for best second-place record, there will be a one-game playoff, with home field going to the winner of the overall season series.

A multiple-way tie for best second-place record means that there was a tie for second place in one of the two divisions for the second half. That tie will be settled first, also with a one-game playoff. Home field will go to the winner of the second-half season series.
