Barbarossa '42 ???????????

Hitler hated communists, and Russia was the main communist threat to Western Europe according to Hitler. They were included with the Jews, Slavs and other minorities that he hated.

Like everyone else that Hitler planned to destroy, he blamed communists for Germany's failure in World War 1, and the resulting crisis in the 1920s and 30s

With Hitler, ideology comes after racism and after Germany's greatness.
The Soviets (not just the Russians, you know) were Communists, and that was bad. What was worse was that they were Slavs and Asians, therefore clearly inferior to the Germans, yet they refused to play the part of the subservient and grateful serf. The main reason for that was worse yet, i.e. that their leadership was thoroughly influenced by their Jews. Last but not least, for Germany's rightful and righteous greatness, Germany needed to own more food-producing regions; fertile, currently under-populated regions. Which happened to be in Eastern Europe, Ukraine for instance. Now, coveting your neighbor's land is bad – unless you are clearly superior to him, and therefore entitled to that land way more than an inferior like him. If he currently owned the land, that was an injustice, against nature's laws, so taking it back was just.
As you can see, everything was nicely connected and Communism certainly was not the worst sin of the USSR.
