This is the 2nd version of my TL. I'll be using a different POD, since I found out that my previous one had too many complications. Hopefully this one won't hit the wall. Without further ado, let's begin...

1814
March 24
The restored King of Spain Fernando VII decreed the abolishment of the 1812 Constitution and arrested its supporters, putting Spain under autocratic rule.
1820
January
In response to the king's heavy-handed rule, Spanish Army colonel Rafael del Riego led a series of uprisings against the government.
March
The rebels seized Madrid. Out of fear for his life, Fernando VII reluctantly reinstated the 1812 Constitution. This was the start of the Trienio Liberal; three years of liberal rule in Spain.
1823
April 7
France launched a military expedition in Spain, with the aim of restoring Fernando VII's absolute rule. They were named "Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis".
May 24
The Sons of St. Louis captured Madrid, but the Liberals had already retreated to Cádiz.
June 1
In the Philippine Islands, army captain Andrés Novales led a rebellion against the colonial government in response to its discriminatory policies against the criollos. The mutineers managed to seize most of Manila, but their target, General Mariano Fernández Folgueras survived and successfully fled the city. The rebels advanced into Fort Santiago, which was guarded by Antonio Novales, Andrés' brother. After brief negotiations, Antonio's army surrenders the fort and joined the rebels, completing the conquest of the Philippine capital.
