This is a general thought thread to help me gather a deeper understanding into the issue of a Balanced Budget Amendment, by acquiring information from the rest of you of what you think on the subject.
The general thought pattern behind such a Amendment is or as i first thought was sound with the a State Government not allowed to spend more than it takes in, but as always time has and will continue to show what will really happens.
In this general instance i imagine the Amendment is generally a useless to dead letter with states that have adopted such a Amendment in this instance the example being my state of California breaking it or ignoring it fully while preaching their fiscal platform soundness that drives said State deeper into debt thus making said Amendment useless and in many ways a dead letter.
But on the other hand i imagine that such a Amendment could be used as a platform for legal action against overblown Budget platforms that overwhelmingly pass the millstone of a balanced budget.
