Back To Our Homeland, We Go

ELovejoy1837.jpg

"It all began about 17 years ago back in Nova Scotia, where the whiteys decided to lie to us. They promised freedom. They promised that we will be equal. They promised that our lives would be just like them. They promised way so many things. Way, too many things. What is a good, a whitey can do? What is truth, within a whitey's word? Things, that they have done, are only death and destruction. More lies. Lies, after lies. Their endless lies, their endless thirst for conquest, all what they only can do to us. They promised us freedom. But one family decided it is the right thing, to burn Saint David(1)'s congregation alive during a baptism ceremony(POD), believing that us, have taken their lands and jobs. They burned Saint David's mass into ashes. Ashes to ashes, we rebuild what they have taken from us. The blood of our kin that they spilled on Nova Scotia, god save them. Jesus save them. But from our wrath, came the British Empire's resolve. We ushered Britain into the end of slavery. We made abolishment reality. Yet, with a grandeur twist. Race relations were something that is darker than it was. Our kind-was only given two choices. Opressed, or sent into this promised land that we waited. The promised land full of hardships, the promised land full with death, but we know, within these lands, within these very lands, we knew that our future awaits. And our revenge soon enough will came. All will be united under our color, and the cross. God bless us.

The Republic of Proterra(2) was still under the British Yolk, nevertheless, but our struggle, essentially, have put us as equal as those British subjects who are allowed to rule themselves. Its better this way. The survival of the state is ensured this way. Living under the British yolk, as a Republic who still bows to the crown-all in exchange for their assistance of sending more colonists, and more men of color to this small patch of land. But when the time is right, Proterra will rise, and free the people of Africa from the shackles of the white. We will fight back. The cross will guide us. But we knew, that we cant be too far. For now. Our time will come, and our struggle will start. Our payback towards the white people will soon come."

BACK TO OUR HOMELAND, WE GO
A TIMELINE BY THETIMERANGER

For too long, that the people of Africa have been treated like slaves. Slaves to the Will of the white people. Slaves to the will of the people of Europa. From Britain, to the Danes, all was using the slaves for their own purposes. Some, however, fights for their freedom, or even granted freedom, as per from the British Empire's promises, regarding the freedom of these men, on which must be paid for their blood, during the American revolution. And it was somewhat fitting, considering the fact that these very men ended up spilling their blood for their British overlords, hoping for their freedom. All was eating Lord Dunmore's words. All of them believed Dunmore's words. Dunmore might have carried his words true, yet, all was lost, for the blacks. As the common people of Britain does not follow his words. The common people still regard them as animals. Slaves. Everything that could be exploited for their own devices. Everything, that they considered, as their property. Age of slavery essentially turned men into demons, and demons into men. The blurry line is crossed. Crossed to the point, where having a skin way much darker-easily could even make you considered as a spawn of the demon. This thought, however, spawns primarily from the acts of the family of Deborah and William Holmes, who considered David George, a escaped slave-who become a man of god-as a devil in disguise, all due to his black complexion(POD).

There, as William and Deborah Holmes are on their way to be saved, a small mob of men, led by one of Holmes's cousin, decided to do otherwise. Instead of disrupting the religious ceremony, the man himself believed that the devil have entered Deborah and William's soul and body. All was lost for him. All was lost for the Holmes family, afterward. The sense that the devil hides within the dark complexion of David George forced them to do the unthinkable. There, the mob quickly put a barricade to block the exit of the congregation of David George. There, they saw that everyone who believed George's words to be possessed. The only baptism known to the mob, is essentially, fire. Baptism by fire(1). Without any other words, torches began to rain over David George's house. Fire began to spread. Prayers. Screams. The sights of hell were made for both the mob and the victims. The sense of supriority have sent them into bloodlust. Those who made their way out, met the beatings of the mob, who believed them as the demons. There, death filled the air. David George, which in the future revered by the Proterrans(2) as Saint David(3), died, burned on his own beloved house, and with his beloved congregation. The very men that David revered as the flock of Jesus. The very men David have commited his life for.

For their deaths, however, sparked things unknown. Sparked things that suddenly became pressing matters for the British Empire. Sparked things that made the racial issue into a standing object on the British government. There, as the perpetrators of the incidents were hanged, the blacks of Canada staged their own riots. The whites, who believed the truth within the actions of the Shelburne Fifty(4), also decided to take up arms. Riots after riots occured within months. Months after months, small riots became something that eventually pressed the British colonial government into the edge. Talks after talks, things began to get worse, when the slaves of the Americas foolishly chooses to ran to Canada, where the fuel to the fire increasingly doubled overtime, as the populace of Canada began to accuse the British government of "Blackening"(5) the British hearts and minds. The British Empire were on their edge. Their only move, however, served more chaos than another, as the pressure they have put for the slaves on the newly fledging American state, in fact, ushered America into the British Empire's problem. There, demons have masqueraded themselves as the plantation owners, and hell became America, where the Blacks are treated less humane than on the British Empire. Slaves became more desperate on escaping to Canada, where the fuel is not only doubled, but even "Spilled". This backfiring tactics, eventually, forced the British Empire to end the conflict by creating the Homeland Comission(6), where the Blacks of the British Empire, soon, will be sent back to Africa. Talks of ending slavery, in the other hand, began to be heard(7).

The race riots eventually ends, as the year of 1785 approaches.

Territory of Freetown, British Empire
1785

Initially named "Freetown", the loyal blacks of the empire, not limited from the lands of Canada, were sent back to Africa. Sent back to where they are considered supposed to belong. However, this time, against all odds, the British Empire did fullfill the needs of the Blacks, this time. There, supplies(8) dwindled. The early six-hundred Africans(9), ranging from Canada-to the West Indies, arrived on early February, accompanied by fifty whites-however, just as expected, the British Empire fulfilled their promises. The whites themselves are not observers or anything. They are willing colonists, or even those who supposed to serve sentence. In a sense, Freetown quickly became the empire's dumping ground for the empire's undersirables. Let alone desirable, the talks of ending slavery were caused due to the empire seeing them as burden, not for any other causes(10). Freetown, in the other hand, against all odds, grew. Yet, with questionable odds and ends. The population were fiercely devoted to Jesus. There, men began to take arms, putting eyes on the natives around them. They also began to put their eyes on the neighboring Dutch and Portugese settlements who enslaved the native populace. However, in their eyes, its different. The natives who lived under western rule, in their eyes, is "Opressed", while the natives who enjoyed their traditional lifestyle, ironically, seen as savages. This very culture and thought, were the seeds of the future sentiment that the Proterrans held towards the true natives of Africa. Irony, in the end, have became themselves, as they saw the original natives being the actual undesirables.

Day after day, months after months, Freetown began to grew. Houses. A church. And even a graveyard, have signified the settlement's status of being alive and thriving. For every sickness and death, came a joy and birth. Farmers. Fishermen. Miners. Families. All was in due time. By the spirit of Saint David, they began to build a community for their own. The spirit of Saint David eventually filled their hearts, minds, and souls, as for them, David George was a saint and martyr, for the blacks of the British Empire. For them, the death of David George had its own double entendre. His death became something that is weeped, yet also celebrated upon. His death is the beginning of the freedom of the blacks on the North America. Sooner or later, the people of Freetown knew that they must take arms, and change the state of things to come. Yet, until the time is right and ripe, the people of Freetown decided to live like they are supposed to in the moment, living on the land they dreamed upon, with the freedom they are granted of.

The cycle, will soon repeats itself.

(POD).Just as mentioned in the first post, the POD itself is basically the Shelburne riots-gone bloody, with the riots itself spawing far more bloodier riots that occured in OTL.
(1).Eeeeeyup. In this timeline, again, it is painted by blood.
(2).AKA the people of the wanked Sierra Leone-of the future.
(3).David George will soon canonized by the pope. Soon.
(4).The name given for the mob responsible for the death of David George and his congregation.
(5).Yes. This subject will be something we will discuss later.
(6).The next post will describe this government comission-established by the British Empire to solve the racial problem in Canada.
(7).Relax, i'm not pushing this. Slavery in the British Empire, however, will end sooner than 1833.
(8).Unlike OTL where the Brits dont give a damn.
(9).Amping up the number a bit, why not?
(10).AKA, African Australia. You get the way im leading you all into?

Territory of Freetown, British Empire
1786

As Freetown grew, things began to speak against the surrounding tribals of the land. The surrounding tribals began to see, men with skin color mimicking them, yet, taking their lands one by one. Farms after farms, the scouts of the surrounding tribes began to spoke of the "Educated Kinsmen". People that they consider kinsmen by skin, yet, the very kinsmen that they have spoken of saw them as sub-humans. Sub-humans not by race, but by religion. By education. This issue, eventually, began to be spoken amongst the elites of Freetown(2). It was a repetition of the circle. The men of Freetown began to conspire, began to think, of a possible subjugation, and eventually, the repetition of the slavery system that existed on Europe(3). This meeting, essentially, gave birth to the Freetownian system of slavery(4), where the blood of the slaves itself would be essential for Freetown-and eventually the birth of Proterra. Fueled by the hatred the British Empire-and the whites of America have instilled over their hearts, as irony have spoken. The mindset that appears during this era, eventually gave rise to the various racial theories and experiments that would occur decades later(5). Eventually, the Freetownians began to draw a map, in order to expand, yet, for this time, in the name of the British Empire. Despite having their knees bend, the people of Freetown have already planned for their future freedom cry. But at this time, Freetown was none other than a territory.

Eventually, on 19th March 1786, the unspeakable have finally happened. In a all-black meeting led by Thomas Peters(6), the seeds of the future expansionist actions and policies of the Territory of Freetown began to be sown. However, this was not a seed for their freedom cry. Yet, the seed of a racial ideal have been sown instead. Peters, alongside with thirteen other individuals(7), all of which elites(8) of the Freetown territory, are gathered on a unnamed location on the territory, discussing about what is "Savage", and what is "Cultured". Boundaries that broke the the colour of the skin. These boundaries, are now eventually called as the "Freetownian tenet", where the boundaries of the savage-and the cultured, are eventually made.

The Freetownian Tenet, are written on below.

"The Freetownian Decree of Man and Savages"
Here we are, the free men of Freetown. With a brown and black colour, we are given the right to occupy these lands, under the graces of god, Jesus Christ. Let alone we will not judge others by the color, yet, we will judge others on how devoted they are towards Jesus Christ(9), and how fluent they could speak the same tounge like ours. We are the men who will inherit our homeland. Those who does not worship Jesus, and those who chooses to live with traditional fashion, will be subjected, and rehabilitated under our will and tutelage.

Then the inevitable have come. Using their relationship(10) with the British crown, and the continous arrival of the blacks from the Americas and the British Isles, the men of Freetown, acting under the will of the British Crown, with the Union Jack flown by them, began to gear up, with the first militiamen of the territory began to be formed, all of them speaking the very same words, the words-that mentioned the deaths of the tribes near them. It is not known, whose to blame. The circle of hate, religious fervor, or simply greed. Yet, all was left was the march of the men of Freetown, on whom in late 1786, started their first offensives against the neighboring towns and villages. Villages were razed, children and women were taken, and men are enslaved. This effectively have started Freetown-and eventually the Proterran Republic's slave-based culture, on which it was mimicking what the Ottomans had done. In November 1786, various tribes have faced their ends. Those who refused to surrender, are killed. Those who surrender, are turned into the main workforce of Freetown. This period of "Early darkness"(11) eventually ends at 9th December 1786, marked by the de-mobilization of the militiamen of freetown. Not all slaves goes for Freetown, however, as about 2/5 of the slaves that Freetown gathered during this time, goes overseas, as the Territory of Freetown, authorized by the British Empire, have became one of the dealers of the slave trade, with Britain not taking any single soul, as the argument regarding slavery became more tilting towards the abolitionists(12), as the British Empire are facing countless(13) of riots, and tensions, from the colonies. David George's legacy, in the end, have sparked a whole new different of story.

As the slaves from the destroyed tribes eventually made their way to Freetown, they have finally shown their uses. Some worked on the fields. Some worked as construction workers. But most of them, however, worked as miners, and cheap labor workers for Freetown, as nearly 2/3 of them eventually became the "First men" who discovered Freetown's diamonds(14), and also, became the blood and flesh that is sacrificed for the construction of the rather extensive road connection of the small colony. This unprecedented(15) growth of the territory, in the end, not mentioning Freetown's diamond boom, have spawned another argument in the Empire, regarding Freetown's status, and continued support. While Freetown havent reached a self-sustaining status, it is arguable, that the unusual autonomy that the empire had given to the territory, is a sign, of what Freetown will receive in the future, as Freetown unexpectedly became a source of revenue for the crown. Eventually, the blacks of Freetown held another leverage against the British Empire, as the blacks, eventually, have made another deal with the crown, as they agrees, on giving more slaves and diamonds, in exchange of more blacks-and coloured men of the empire being transported to the territory. This deal(16), marked by the arrival of more than a hundred black, from the Empire's territories, but now, mostly of them, are educated men of London, forcibly moved from their homes. This very sentiments, in the end, were fermented by Thomas Peters and his group, as hatred against the crown were slowly created, with the newcomers from London being the current flashpoint.

As Freetown grew, the Blacks of Freetown have something else in mind, as a future divide is inevitable, as some blacks accepted the current white leaders of the territory, while some, as they also saw that some whites were also shipped to Freetown, began to plot, for a overthrow and exiling of the whites in the territory, yet, still bending the knee to the Buckhingham. Thomas Peter's rise to power, are unevitable, at this point. Thomas Peter's rise to power, in the end, will be remembered as a twisted version George Washington's, where the only stark, clear difference is that Peters never took up arms, and sees the horrors of war, that he have, and will create at that time, and in the future.

(1).In a sense, Afro-Americans-is unexistent in this TL, instead, the Africans, and also the Proterrans will consider "America" as "Scotia", due to the over-importance of David George, and the Shelburne riot.
(2).Yes. The elites are basically those who worked for the crown, and have a bigger plot of land than you.
(3).Yes. We're going full draconian here.
(4).AKA, read below. Seriously. This thing is ridiculously important for this TL.
(5).AKA, the Proterrans essentially invented scientific racism, over here. Yes.
(6).Yes. THE Thomas Peters. That father of Sierra Leone.
(7).On which will be detailed on the next update, solely made from made up characters tho.
(8).See number two. But this guys are essentially the top elite.
(9).HAHA! Yes! We're going full-blown religious. Didnt you see that coming?
(10).Which somehow stays good.
(11).Yes. This is just the start, folks! We're going more worse than the CSA over here.
(12).We're kicking it far more earlier, yet however, it could lead into more complications...
(13).Over-exageration, relax.
(14).Yes, more early diamonds of Sierra Leone, aka-the nitro for the growth of this colony.
(15).Yes. Its growing, folks. Map at update 5.
