What happens to mughals?

How long do lodhis survive ?

How long does Muslim Turk afghan rule survive in north India without mughals?

The Mughals retire north from an otherwise fairly successful raid back to Kabul, which is what most Mughal Amirs wanted to do even after they won- almost certainly Babur tries again later, but considering both the technological advantage he had at Panipat and the absolutely awful opposition generals he was up against, he may not get a better chance. An intriguing historiography is to see the history of Islam in India as primarily a struggle between Mughal and Afghan, starting with the Mongol Invasions just 15 years after the Delhi sultanate was established, with Afghan keeping the upper hand until Babur and briefly regaining it with Sher Shah Suri and attempting to regain it with the Roshaniyya rebellion, while the Mughals grew stronger. Then it was Afghans who won out in the end with the 18th century mess in Northern India and the 7 Durrani invasions.

The Lodi’s are on their way out, with incredibly unpopular rulers and decaying state apparatus. Most likely a new afghan dynasty rises to replace them by the 1530s and from there it depends on the specific new dynasty. Perhaps Farīd Khan becomes Sher Shah Suri earlier and has more time to secure his dynasty and work his highly effective reforms before his death.

There are too many variables- it could very well be just a few decades or last centuries. Probably the latter rather than the former, but afghan rule specifically might not last all that long if it’s replaced by persianate Mughal or Indian Muslim dynasties.
