No, the proposed fighter VC10 was its own beast. There would have been a relatively common airframe but very much it's own variant. The missile was more properly known as CF299 which was also proposed for yet another "bomber" the proposed Buccaneer missileer as well as the abortive HS1154RN. Details are in VC10 Pofflers book as well as a bit in Butlers tomes.
The Vulcan, well...I guess it would have been fighter (ahem) only, pretty much as with Tornado ADV. considering that it would be extra nosey then would presumably have had a new mk number, so anyone for Vulcan F3? As for the VC10 the Pofflers author thought any V bomber VC10 would have probably been called Vengeance, now if that had happened and so had the missileer then maybe that could be B.1 and then our CF299 missile and fighter controller as who knows? F(C) Mk2?
I remember reading about that, I don't believe it got beyond paper though.I've heard that there was a drawn-up variant for the Tu-160 that would have involved a big anti-air radar and a bunch of R-33s.
Yup, I'm a Poffler bore....
And Buccaneer, my favourite two what if only's. The B52j sounds interesting and a little bit...hmm. I think I prefer the later iteration with the RR turbofan engines CF56?), still four but with a smaller footprint. Would have saved a fair few bob in fuel for the USAF and given longer range, although does the buff need that?
