Axis China, Allied Japan

Suppose the German relationship with China before World War 2 blossomed to a full alliance while Japan instead drifted towards the Allies. Whay impact does this have on the war and what does Asia look like afterwards? Will anti-colonialism spread to Korea or Taiwan or other locations as it will elsewhere?

Didnt we have a discussion like this recently?
The problem is that in order for this to happen you are changing SO much not just about Japan but about 20th century history that it is difficult without an explanation of how it happened to draw any conclusions.

This would be like saying what if the US was not a super power…. Well we need to know how this improbable event took place to predict what then happens.

Japan had been heading towards the militarism that caused the invasions if much if Asia and its roll in WW2 for a very long time. So how did this change directions? How did Japan stay in good with GB how did it avoid the tensions with the US?
How did China get a stable government that COULD side with anyone…. Why did the side with Germany?

These things are radical departures from history as we know it. And the way they cam about will effect the way history after 1940 plays out.

So without an understanding of why history from 1900-1940 differed so much for Japan and China we cant say what would hapeen after 1940.

The truth is that you may lose the US helping GB if GB is in bed with Japan still but the US/Japanese relationship is still what it was.

So this could go in radicly different direction.

Please use the Post-1900 Misc. thread for these sorts of WI.

You need to actually start a discussion not just ask a question or issue an AH challenge
