The main idea that interests me found in Averroes' work is the existence of two intrinsically separate truths in the world: philosophy and religion. Curiously enough, this idea only flourishes in medieval Europe (through the work of Thomas Aquinas), whereas the Islamic thought continued basically with the single religious truth.
I'm not an expert on (Christian or Islamic) philosophies, but, considering that this aspect of Averroism eventually led to secularism in the West, I can only ask: Why it didn't thrive in the Muslim World? And, with a proper POD, can it be the base of an earlier secular Muslim mentality?
