In a post-war scenario that may or may not entail a rump Austria becoming part of West Germany, what if NSU-Fiat / Neckar acquires or merges with Steyr-Daimler-Puch (aka Steyr-Puch)?
Apparently Steyr had a few projects such as the Steyr 60 (whose 1.8-litre engine was later enlarged to 2-litres then fitted to a Fiat 1400 to create the Steyr 2000 / 2300), the Steyr 70 V8 as well as the (non-Fiat bodied) Steyr-Puch U3 prototypes (whose engine was carried over to a Fiat 500 body creating the Steyr-Puch 500).
The pre-war Steyr 50 & 55 / Steyr-Baby meanwhile was said to be a superior front-engined RWD alternative to the Volkswagen Beetle, which might have had roughly similar post-war potential in the right circumstances if the PODs allowed for production of the small Steyr-Baby to be restarted (particularly by NSU-Fiat / Neckar).
NSU-Fiat / Neckar on the other hand in OTL were producing arguably the best Fiats ever built (even better then Fiat themselves) and perhaps a post-war ATL involvement with Steyr-Puch could have lead to better things compared to OTL.
Could the resultant Steyr-Neckar company's need / reliance on Fiat be reduced in such a scenario? At minimum am looking for Steyr-Neckar to at least become the German equivalent of Simca, at most Steyr-Neckar somehow manages to establish themselves as an independent carmaker.
