Automatik Teknicolour: Alternate Albums

Think of any classic/panned albums from the past and alter them (or replace them with any unreleased album from that time).

Bonus points if you can detail how it affects their reception and the bands future.

Try and keep it cheery now :D

I'll go first.

First release of the new Millenium, 'Fidel' was a surprising return to form. 'Masses Against The Classes' was a surprising success previously and it's joined by the thoughtful 'Just a Kid' and the rocking 'Found That Soul'. Critical reception was warm, though it lay the foundations for their next album 'Blueprint For Exile'.

I remember right after the Black Crows released Southern Harmony and Musical Companion in 1992 they started to implode. The next album they were working on, Tall, was plagued by infighting and eventually scrapped entirely. Eventually they did release a lackluster album in 1994, Amorica. Although Amorica was seen as sub-par by most critics and fans, it apparently involved all of the best parts of Tall while shaking off those parts that made it a train wreck. Tall had the potential to be an epic album, but due to the extreme level of infighting (allegedly the Robinson brothers were actually going into the studio after recording sessions and destroying taped sessions because just to get back at each other) most insiders felt it was on pace to be a career ending album if it was forced through (which is why the studio OK'ed killing the album after all the money they sunk into it). Always wondered what would have happened if the studio decided to try and push Tall through, or in the alternative, what if the Robinson brothers could have put their differences aside to make a better album.

Pink Floyd picks The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking over Bricks in the Wall (The Original concept name for The Wall). More sound quality, lyrics, and the rest replace OTL's Pros and Cons album and eventualy makes it a huge hit. The Wall would be released as a solo album by Roger Waters after drifting away from the group and gains some recognition with songs such as The Docter, Run Like Hell, Mother, and Bricks in the Wall (ATL Another Brick in the Wall merged into one song instead of three seperate parts with some noticeable changes).

Neil Young... where to begin?

Chrome Dreams - Could have been one of NY's strongest albums.

Homegrown - Probably wouldn't have the legacy of Tonight's The Night but would still be reverred.

Toast - Probably wouldn't have made a difference if it was brilliant or terrible.

The Sisters of Mercy almost disbanded after releasing this Goth classic, though Andrew Eldritch reconvened with a new lineup to salvage his recent recordings for the provisionally titled Never Land.
Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams went on to form The Mission which was seen as an attempt to outdo The Sisters... though critics and fans agreed they barely came close.
