Slovene Nationalism, while not to be ignored, seems to have been less intense than Croatian or Serbian. Slovenia also had a long long history as being part of the Holy Roman Empire, German Confederation, and a direct part of the Archduchy of Austria.
After WWI, could Slovenia have remained part of Austria? If so, after WWII could Austria have reclaimed Trentino, Istria, and Trieste? And perhaps even slices of Germany (pieces of Bavaria)?
EDIT: I found the above map online while googling images of the Archduchy of Austria. My including it in this post is just because the bit that says Empire of Austria seemed like an accuratish idea of what I thought Austroslovenia might look like if it got Istria, Trentino, and Trieste (although looking more closely it seems they retain Pressburg but lack Bergenland).
Below is a map of the Austrian Archduchy from before the Napoleonic Wars for comparison.
