Austro-Prussian intervention in the Crimean War instead of Anglo-French?

Cool but I had asked what if Austria and Prussia went to war against Russia instead of France and Britain going to war against Russia

Why should Prussia go to war against Russia? Russia and Prussia were big friends until around 1900.

But if they do it, you could see the same German unification. Oh, and maybe, as a "punishment" for Russia, independent Baltic states and a free Finland. And if they really want to annoy Russia, Prussia and Austria can create a puppet state in the Russian part of Poland.

This doesn't really make that much sense as an idea. You could fairly easily get Austro-Prussian intervention in the Crimean War *alongside* Britain and France, but not in their stead.

Even for just getting them into the war, I don't think Russia would ever let things get to the point of an actual Austrian intervention, much less a Prussian one (which is distinctly harder to get, in general, because Frederick William and Manteuffel were pretty pro-Russian). In OTL, threatened Austrian intervention in 1854 caused Russia to withdraw from the Danubian Principalities, and threatened Austrian intervention in 1855 caused Russia to sue for peace. So it's a bit tough to see how you get it to happen without the Russians folding first.

I guess maybe you'd need Russia to be much more successful than OTL?
