I always found that amusing, the Hungarians detested the Habsburgs for centuries and then the minute they get independence under a dictator, they realize how good they had it.Czech were main driving force behind Empire's break-up. It does not look terribly logical for them to enter into new (con)federation with Austrians. Besides, they became 800-pound gorilla of the region immediately after that. Hungarians, on the flip side, lost a lot and were overwhelmingly monarchists (although Horti rejected restoration of the Kingdom, fearing Czech and Romanian invasion). So it would make sence to create new Dual Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
R U sure you're not talking about Triple Monarchy idea some Slavic politicians of the more moderate kind toyed with at the turn of 20th century? Even then it was inherently problematic, as Croats and Czech viewed themselves as the partner in this 3-sided marriage and other Slavic nations (including Croats in Czech worldview and vice versa) as underlings. My recent reading and research indiciated that there was a movement in the Czech states that supported the creation of a Dual Monarchy with Austria.
No the idea that was proposed was not the triple proposal but a new Dual monarchy with the Czech provinces.
You should somehow plant an idea of Partitioned Germany in the heads of Entente rulers. Even after WWII partition was not part of original design and did not include Austria.Personally, I think it would be much more interesting to have the predominantly Catholic southern Germany join with austria in a new Hapsburg empire, and Prussia being restored as an independent but isolated nation. the Sudetenland would be transfered to the new German Empire under the Hapsburgs.
