Austria wins - different treaty of Belgrade

In 1739, weak Austria requested peace with the Ottomans, after they joined the Russians in their war althogh they weren't required to do so. Furthermore, the Russians had had some success. It's been Austrian weakness that lost them the war after decades of Austrian greatness under Prince Eugen.

The result was the Treaty of Belgrade.

In this treaty, the Austrians lost Belgrade and Northern Serbia as well as the Western part of Wallachia. The frontier drawn in that peace was essentially the Austrian southern frontier until the annexation of Bosnia 1908. So what if the Austrians did win? What if they got further parts of Serbia or Bosnia?

Could Serbian state arise withot northern Serbia?

Well, of course there will be a Kingdom of Serbia. The Habsburg titulatory will now read: "Elected Holy Roman Emperor, Forever August, King of Hungary, Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Serbia and Jerusalem" :D It all depends on how "much" Austria wins. Probably Austria could secure more of Serbia and maybe also Greater Wallachia (the western part of it, as opposed to the eastern part being Lesser Wallachia).

How were north Serbia and Wallachia organized during the short time when the Austrians had 'em?

I have no idea - the only thing I read once was that there were colonization attempts started with German settlers in Northern Serbia.

@Susano: I'd assume that Austria would go for OTL Bosnia-Herzegovina first? Would the Ottomans be more willing to cede lands of ther Wallachian vassals?

Oh, right I had forgot BH. Hm, possible. Of course, they went for Belgraded first, but that is because Belrgade is actually valuab.e But wether central Serbian worthless mountainous territory or Bosnian worthless mountainous territory, I guess that is indeed no matter. Right, so that might be the first target. Of course, even with just Belgrade held that is enough justification to call yourself King of Serbia, and as we now early modern European rulers loved to add titles...

Did the religious following among the population of Belgrade change during the years of Austrian rule (i.e. more Catholics, less Orthodox)?
