I dunno, Germany was allied with Austria and afraid of Russia. They also planned to create a Polish Kingdom themselves after WW1.
That's because opinion changed a lot behind 1905 and 1914.
In 1905 the Russian Empire was a weak and backward, overextended empire that had just been humbled by the Japanese. Nothing to be afraid of and nothing to worry about in a war.
In 1914 the Russians were just 3 years away from being unbeatable in the German perspective, with a huge and modern army, vast amounts of industry, a double tracked Trans-Siberian alongside tonnes of more rail tracks, and the ability to mobilize the entire nation in about 21 days. In other words something more scary to Germany than the Russians in December of 1762 (Basically an army of tens of thousands of Russians was about to over run Prussia then the Tsarina died and the new Tsar declared peace because he loved Prussia).
