I'd like to have your help for a few plausibility checks about a completely different colonization of Australia.
First of all, I'm fleshing out this scenario by Thande, all credit goes to him.
So, are the following plausible:
The site of OTL Perth never becomes important, but instead, Albany [ITTL: Nouvelle Nantes] grows to be Western [TTL: French] Australia's largest city, with over 1 million inhabitants.
There's still a settlement near OTL's Adelaide, on Lefevre Peninsula (TTL: Port Larcier), a medium-sized regional centre which benefited mainly from being isolated from the rest of French Australia by hundreds of kilometres of desert (somewhat analogous to OTL's Cairns).
Port Phillip Bay is surrounded by large conurbation just as IOTL, Willemshaven, capital of New Holland.
There's no Sydney ; New Holland's largest Pacific city is on Jervis Bay.
There is still a large city in Moreton Bay, but not on the same spot as OTL's Brisbane.
I await your comments eagerly.
If all goes well, there'll be a map about this someday
