Aurochs brought to the Americas

What if prior to its extinction in 1627, some individuals had been brought through ship to the Americas and released ? How would they populate ? Would they mix with Bisons like cattle did ?

Note that the Aurochs was close to extinction at the time of the discovery of the New World.

A survey in 1564 found only 34 individuals, and the last known specimen died in 1627.

So....
To get Aurochs to the New World, you'd need to capture about half of the existing wild stock, ship them from Poland to the Americas and release them. Note that you'd have to do this before there were any permanent white settlements in what became the 13 colonies.

Have fun with that.

Basically, it's just not going to happen.

Obviously they are brought by Vikings, for some masochistic reasons.

On a more serious note you could have aurochs migrating to America on their own in prehistoric times (giving native Americans a domesticable animal).

Either they mix out of existence with cattle/bison or are shot by some random colonist/Indian for a feast. Looking at the rapid extinction of bison east of the Mississippi, I'm inclined to think they wouldn't last much longer than a generation.

Then you just get some unique breeds of cattle more than likely. I wonder what colonists would think of them, probably they'd steal them from the natives and breed them with their own cattle. Assuming they aren't butterflied out of existance, of course.
