Good day, gentlemen and ladies. This is the beginning of thenational report of the Kingdom of Atlantis. Enjoy! There is more to come.

Background: Atlantis, at one time, was an ancient empire that spread from the main island to the Azores in the West and the Galician Coast in the East. The native Euskera (known as the modern Basques) were the original, ethnic Atlanteans and their dominion spread from their home islands to the Azores in the West and northwestern Iberia in the East. The Atlantean Empire began to decline during the early 100s, BC and eventually, the Iberian colonies were entirely cut off from the home island by Celtiberian tribes. The Romans invaded the islands in 142, and imposed their cultural ideals on the native Vasco-Atlanteans (as the group is known today). Interbreeding with large groups of Roman, Iberian, and Celtic settlers resulted in the development of the modern Atlantean ethnic group and language. Following the fall of the Roman Empire, the Atlanteans withdrew from the world and retained peaceful independence in their home islands and the Azores until the 16th and 17th centuries when they were conquered by the Portuguese and Spanish respectively. The Atlanteans regained independence in 1804 during “Lo Revoltu Veranogo” or “The Summer Revolution” which ousted the Spanish viceroy and replaced him with the Gomescu Dynasty, the first Atlantean royal family since the Portuguese conquest of the island in 1564. Atlantis remained neutral in World War I, but participated in World War II alongside Britain and France, both close allies. This resulted in the Nazi occupation of the Atlantean Islands from 1942 to 1944 and the merciless killings of nearly three thousand ethnic Atlanteans Catholics and 95% of the native Sephardic Jew population. Following the end of the war, the Sanqueçi Dynasty, a minor branch of the Portuguese Braganzas, replaced the Gomescus who had been executed under the Nazi occupation. From the period of 1944 to 1954, Atlantis experienced a period of expensive recovery, which spiraled the country into a deep economic depression that lasted throughout the 1960s. An economic revival during the 1970s similar to those in Spain and Ireland brought the country to par with the economic powers of Europe. Atlantis joined the European Union in 1986, along with Spain. Continuing challenges include a large, radical Muslim population in the southern islands, increased nationalism in the Azorean territories, and the controversial Atlantean support for a Basque homeland.

Yasu, ei statazias templacas.

Good bye, and stay tuned.

Germans invaded the main Atlantean Island (Gieraclia) via ship and submersible en route from German positions in West Africa. The Atlantean naval units based south of the islands were few in number because most were assisting the British navy in the North Atlantic. Thus, the Germans were easily able to break through southern defenses and take the islands from north to south. Following a seven day siege in which British and American forces could not break through German holdings (due to Atlantis' strategically steep cliffs that tower over a more gradual shore on the northern islands) and the capital, Circóma, was lost following a seven-day siege when the government was forced to surrender. The royal family refused to recognize German conquest and were captured in an attempt to flee the kingdom for relatives in Brazil. The entire family, women and children included, were subsequently executed.
