atlanropa but in the baltic sea

so instead of draning the mediterranean which land would have been useless we drain the Baltic we can still created smaler lakes in Africa and this would give land to germany, denmark, sweden, finland, poland, estland, lithuania, latvia and russia and i am thinking in the 1920 or 30 to begin whit this project and i know this is imposible but for fun so i think that they should drain 2/3 of the Baltic sea which would create about 251333 km2 of new land and of coruse this would need alot of money and time so i think it would be germany which would lead this project and this means that we can not have a Hitler so what i think is like a Nordic like eu of germany, denmark, sweden, finland, poland, estland, lithuania, latvia to make this project real and the dams which would drain the Baltic sea would generate electricity to these nations so how do you think a my utopian idea would work out in the long run

well .. I don't want to burst your damn.. er uh. bubble.. but uh, no. I really can not fore see either idea working, talk about single point of failure and bad ideas.

also this is the Baltic; crap winters, not great farmland, Russia might be a tad angry about leaving them out of your nations list. ( just saying)

yea but unlike med the Baltic could be farmed

Ehm, the Danish Straits are the outflow of the Baltic Sea, not an inflow. Damming up the Danish isles would flood the Baltic coasts, not drain the Sea.

Could it? Is the salinity that low?
The Baltic Sea is so low salinity that its northern water, like, say, in the Bothnia Gulf, is practically indistinguishable from fresh water.

However, "Baltantropa" would still not be feasible, because most likely, when you dam the Danish straits, you'll just be left with a slightly salty lake. The connection between the Baltic and the North Sea is extremely weak, which, for example, adds to the reason why the Baltic is so polluted - the pollution cannot diffuse to the ocean and thus stays bottled up in the sea. It is maintained almost purely from river inflow. So, unlike the Mediterranean, it wouldn't just dry up, it's too cold up here and too many rivers flow into it.
