What do you think would be the result if the Athenians decided instead to fight at Salamis, to settle in southern Italy or southern France? Would Greece have been occupied?( And would be Sea lion possible?)

The obvious outcome is that Persia wins and adds the Greece to its empire - without Athens, the allied Greeks aren't going to defeat the Persian navy. New Athens being established in Italy would be interesting and could have some major butterflies, especially if this Athens can become the "Syracuse" of Italy, becoming a major power, and dominating on and off the Greek cities there, and it also might affect the development of the newly founded Roman Republic.
