Atheism in Western Europe

Wow, it has been a long time since I've been here. Here's my idea, Robespierre either dies or embraces the cult of reason during the French Revolution and atheism/agnosticism spreads in Western Europe at least before the first world war

The Cult of Reason was very unpopular amongst the general French populace, I don't see it gaining any traction.

I think about the only way for that to happen is if the French revolution essentially spreads and spreads with a similar mindset. I can't see that (violently) revolutionary French idea catching on in her enemies' countries. So, that would essentially imply that France is able to create a stable (and more peaceful) revolutionary state. Then, these ideas catch on in neighboring countries, essentially mean the fall of the English and Spanish monarchies and the various neighboring princes. Some of this could happen by conquest, but France didn't really start conquering until it that revolutionary leadership had been replaced by the triumvirate.
