I am working on a timeline where the major players of the world are the Russians, the Qing, the Swedes, the Germans, the French, the Byzantines, the Persians, the Ethiopians, and the Maratha. I originally had the Aztec and Iroquois as the New World powers, but in hindsight that seems too unlikely even for the stretch present in this timeline.
I was wondering, in a world of colonialism dominated by the Swedes from Vinland and the French controlling the east coast of the New World, who would be the major Native American powers? I was thinking a hegemony for the Aztec, dominating Mexico and South America with power being contested between the Mixtec and the Inca at various times, and a Federation of sorts for the Native Americans. This is under the constraints of a successful Vinland spreading disease and horses through the New World, resulting in a more resistant Native population, coupled with Spanish defeat at the hands of the French. Britain is part of the Swedish Empire in this timeline as well.
Here is an extremely rough map of how the world looks, ignore most of the exact borders since they are being remodeled (though any tips would be appreciated)
