Article on proposed but unbuilt projects for New York

The Guardian has an article on various buildings that were proposed for New York City but never built:

I thought of doing something more substantial on these, but unfortunately, or in another sense fortunately, most of them were never built for very good reasons, including some proposals by famous architects. A few would have been inconsequential, the masonry heavy proposed bridge across the Hudson River was never built, but two steel bridges were built across the Hudson River later.

The one exception was IM Pei's proposed tower above Grand Central Station, which would have had an impact because it would have been the tallest building in the world at the time, plus it was possible to construct buildings that tall when it was proposed, and it would have looked better than the Pam Am building that was built there, though it would have had weird effects on the skyline.
