Armada of 1779 succeeds

What if the joint French-Spanish Fleet was able to invade Great Britian during the ARW. Say that French-Spanish armies are able to take Gibraltar at the same time. Does this end the war? Do the Americans get independce? What do they think about this? Are they able to take Canada? John Paul Jones did lead a feint near Ireland to distract the British.

British don't recognize US yet, but withdraw troops to Europe. France and Spain reinforce invasion force. French send 10,000s across Channel. Basically reverse of 7YW. British Empire collapses and Spain becomes the new Britain, but quieter.

We'd probably see a Jacobite restoration. After all the French will want to have a puppet on the throne of Britain. I know I'm not usually one to say bad things about the Jacobites but by 1779 the movement had all but collapsed.

USA probably gets all of North America.

France/Spain/Netherlands carve up the rest of the British Empire in the Caribbean, South America, and Asia.

France gradually becomes the 19th century superpower. There will probably be a delayed revolution, but with the Brits damaged, the French have an easier time subduing the continent.

Closer I'd imagine. Could a U.S that's closer to France lead to an earlier rise to the Democratic-Republicans? Would the U.S even get a constitution?

What else is different in your dimension?

I live in Dimension 501K

So Umm, lets see. Germany won WWI are a successful Verdun Campaign. This guy named Adolf Hitler became a world renowned painter. The South conquered the north in the American Civil War. Then they conquered the rest of the Americas, with the exception of British holdings. Britain is communist. Russia still is communist. China is communist. Korea is united as communist. Greece is a Kingdom. Greece owns all of the Balkans. Greece owns western Anatolia. Greece fought for Germany in WWI. There was no WWII. South Africa has nukes. South Africa owns everything in Africa under the Equator. Israel doesn't exist. Italy fought for Germany in WWI. So did Spain. France is a economically weak nation. France is solely dependent on oil. etc.

Part of it yes, all of it no. That is not how they did things in those days. Britain will probably still have a decent amount of India and some Carribean colonies.

I am not certain about the delayed revolution. France winning this war means a lot of money, not only payments from Britain, but also from their new colonies. This could be enough to keep the revolution at bay, or certainly change it enough to change the course of the revolution.
