Argentina and an Imperial Federation

Hey Guys,

Say that, at some point in the late 1800's, the British Empire federalises (or at least the 'White Dominions' do) into a single, relatively loosely united nation. With this federation comes an 'Imperial Free Trade Agreement' (IFTA), which excludes non-colonies.

So, what would happen with Argentina in regards to this IFTA and the Imperial Federation? At this point in time Argentina was referred to as the 'informal empire', as the British Empire dominated the Argentine economy, yet Argentina wasn't a part of the British Empire.

So would Britain allow Argentina to join the IFTA as an exception? Would Argentina even try to get in on the free trade agreement? Could Argentina try and get some 'observer' status either in the IFTA or the Federation itself? Or would it go all the way and fully join the Federation, especially with it being quite loose and if the Argentinians were promised representation in the Imperial Parliament?
