Is it possible to write an Alternate History of the future?
___Let's assume the future depicted in "Termination Shock" by Neal Stephenson is what we're likely to get. I see no political will to limit the global temperature rise above 1.5 degrees.
___Suppose a private consortium obtained materials from Near Earth Asteroids and constructed Solar Power Satellites. I doubt we can count on governments to back this initiative. Nor can we count on oligarchs like Elon Munk whose working capital is about to vanish into Twitter's black hole.
___Wouldn't a viable project to mitigate global warming represent an Alternate History?
