Rome and China are often contrasted, the former disintegrating and remaining disunited whereas the latter inexorably reunified after periods of division.
So my question is what would a Roman Mediterranean that goes through Chinese cyclical history look like, and are there any existing timelines following this historical trend on the board?
At a guess I'd say either sustaining Justinian's conquests, or at minimum disrupting the Arab Conquests are the likely scenario as it would mean the Mediterranean world has much closer continuity with Antiquity, and even if the Eastern Empire falls I think you'd see more successor states a la Charlemagne (or the Goths for that matter) one of whom might eventually reunify the Empire eventually.
