Are there any good Nixon TL's on AH.com?

Because I'm starting to get a serious man crush on the guy. :p Nixon wins in 1960, or Nixon without Watergate maybe? Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers!

I too am stricken with an intense infatuation with the 37th President. This is the poster on my bedroom wall. DREAMY! ;):)

There are a few Nixon TL's on here (at least that I know about) but most of these have not really gone far, but still interesting to check out nonetheless.

are you into evil?

You DO know Nixon WAS a crook, right? Most of the time, he was good, and he was certainly smart; but he had his times that were unacceptably paranoid for a President. It wasn't just Watergate, either.

o He routinely wiretapped and spied on his political opponents and employees.

o He chose his Democratic opponents for us Dems by using said information.

o He ruined the '70s economy to win the '72 election, by price- and wage-fixing, notably on energy, just in time for it to look good in '72. But, because he convinced too many others that he was doing the right thing, those measures stayed in place a LONG time.

o His foreign policy was anti-freedom. He supported plenty of nasty dictators, including in Vietnam, not caring (maybe even liking, at least some of the time?) what they did to their people. He raised US support levels for Greece when the Colonels were in power there,.

Sorry....

Too lazy to search and have to go through many threads with the terms Nixon and China.

So, is there any threads in which Nixon does NOT reach out to the PR of China?

Pfft, all this simply increases my Nixon crush. The guy reminds me of an American Francis Urquhart, but in real life! Maybe if Obama was as damn devious and slippery as Nixon, he too would have my love.

jkay: Nixon's methods were par for the course, as such things were Standard Operating Procedure for both parties until Watergate. (as I've repeated ad infinitum) It is an entrenched myth that Watergate was a one-off.

BG: Nixon had two fellow operators to contend with: Robert Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. Those ATL campaigns would be equalled only by Atwater/Rove in subterfuge and skullduggery.

I'm way ahead of you. What about my NON-Watergate points? What about wiretapping his employees (your fellow conservatives)?

I don't condone LBJ's probable election-stealing either. But, LBJ and Kennedy were hardly on the ballot in '68 and '72, were they?

Those last two are the only Nixon in 1960 TL's I can recall here. The problem with both is that they were abandoned and were both too lite on content, in my opinion.

Frankly, there's never been a good Nixon in 1960 TL here from what I know. That's why, as Rogue cited before, I set up a thread to discuss the matter. I believe we're going to work it into a group TL project at some point in the future.

Although Rogue already posted it, I'll repost the thread link for simplicity sake:

Fool, that was Ronald Reagan. Everybody knows that.

Nixon just hated black babies.

No, that was E. Howard Hunt, Jack Ruby, the Mafia, Cuban exiles, the Comedian, time traveling JFK and the CIA.

We’ll I’m not surprised the first shot was off then; the place would have been so crowded they’d be knocking each other’s elbows!
