Are there any good Alternate History Games on Steam?

Okay, so I have a Steam, and I have a few games on it but I'm looking for something new. One thing I'm kinda interested in finding is a good alternate history game. Here's what I'm generally looking for:
  • I prefer Strategy games and Roleplaying Games, I'm not really all that good at most other types tho if it's really good, feel free to recommend it.
  • It's pretty important that the games be lore-heavy and at least somewhat story-focused. I really want to get invested in the setting.
  • Mechanics need not be good, but they shouldn't be unplayably bad.
  • I'd prefer if it weren't ASB - there's nothing really wrong with ASB, I just notice that most ASB games seem to not really focus on the consequences and the ASB event is just an excuse to put magic/aliens/mechs in an otherwise-historical setting.
  • No Nazi victory games - any other premise is okay, including other cliched ones like Confederate Victory, but Nazi victory scenarios are way overdone.
Idk if there are any games like this but I'm hoping there are at least a few indie ones. If anyone knows of any, that'd be cool as fuck.

EDIT: PLEASE stop recommending me Hoi4 mods. I really really appreciate it and thanks so much for helping, but I've already heard about most of them. Thank you.

Crusader Kings 2 and Europe Universalis IV are enough on their own to scratch that alternate history itch. But there are also several mod projects on both games with a focus on alternate timelines.

Crusader KIngs 2 has a posapocalyptic mod, a Game of thrones mod, even an Avatar: The Last Airbender mod.

EU IV has a fantastic fantasy mod, Abennar (sp?), and a host of AH ones.

For HOI IV:
--Thousand-Week Reich, about the Nazis "winning" WW2 only to collapse in on themselves circa 1952 because they're Nazis.
--Kaiserreich, arguably the best HOI IV mod out there.
--Southern Victory, a TL-191 mod. I'm not happy with some of their creative decisions but I can respect if not agree with the reasoning behind them.
--Red World, about the USSR winning the Cold War, America balkanizing, and Secret Nazbol Bernie Sanders Get the fan fork of this one.
--Numerous historical and AH themed ones like a Great Northern War-era one (forget the name), one that starts you in 1857, again I forget the name, a 1632-inspired mod, etc.

I strongly recommend Kaiserreich. Most countries are fun but the American successors are probably the best followed by South Africa and Chinese unifiers.

The New Order: Last Days of Europe is a Nazi victory mod, but it's an anti-fascist Nazi victory mod where Nazi Germany can implode twice in a row or get subverted into a democratic society. Also, America and Russia are interesting in their own right, with detailed politics for the former and fun warlord states for the latter.

Ck2 also has some alternate history mods that are not post apocalypse. See lux invictus.

Vic 2 have divergences of darkness and heirs of Aquitainia, both are decent mods.

For hoi4 i would really reccomend TNO, it probably ties with kaiserreich as the best hoi4 mod today, but because you prefer lorr heavy, then TNO will be better for you.

But if you want something more spicy, try red flood for hoi4. It has ancap, anprim and speeeeed France, pagan nazbol Germany, Montenegro larping as the Roman empire, warlord Churchill breaking all the geneva convention and many more.(believe it or not these are average scenarios by red flood standards, there still more cursed scenarios)

A lot of Kaiserreich's storylines have become shockingly good. For example:

--Trying to save America as Floyd Olson, only to be betrayed by his cowardly advisors, is a Hell of a tragedy. All the American successors are interesting TBH; events make it clear that while the good paths, like democratic USA and PSA, and demsoc CSA, are good guys making a better country, it's still a challenge; and if you play some asshole like Moseley or MacArthur or goddamn Pelley, it is made as clear as possible without breaking Paradox's semi-official "no genocide simulation" policy that these are nightmare states run by monsters. Furthermore, all the pre-war Presidencies are a lot of fun. Reed tries to save his country but fails due to lack of FDR's charisma and broad base; Huey gets high on his own ego, distracting from his genuine desire to help, and blows up his own country because he can't control his arrogance; Garner can go down a "do nothing" path which will literally get him couped on the grounds that his refusal to do anything is betraying the country; Landon can try to help salvage the situation but the player can easily figure out from the details presented that his plan is much too little, and far, far too late; Olson can come within minutes of saving America, etc.. The new mechanics make it a bit more interesting of a war, too.

--Socialist South Africa. You can have a democratic socialist multiracial paradise in South Africa by late 1936. But it's still South Africa, so you're underindustrialized and you're never going to be a major contributor to anything unless you're in the 3I and get into a fight with ol' Hermann von Douchenozzle, abolishing the passport system means that everybody moves to Jo'burg at once so you have to spend literally YEARS unfucking the townships, and basically the good path is pretty hard. But boy, the end reward? It feels really goddamn good. It takes years of work and political haggling and pain and sweat and tears, but by 1940 South Africa can be a thriving little country with liberty and justice for all.

--Most of the Chinese unifiers are just fantastic stories. Chen Jiongming and Chen Mingshu in Liangguang, Soong's L-KMT, tons of fun. If you can stomach playing a dirtbag--there's always ol' 86-Dollar Zhang Zhongchang, whose heart's desire is to be the biggest and most despicable drug-smuggling perverted sack of dog shit on the entire planet. There's something oddly humorous and cathartic of playing this guy who is a sack of dog shit, knows he's a sack of dog shit, is OK with being a sack of dog shit, and just wants to be the biggest and filthiest sack of dog shit on the planet.

Of course the rat bastard's kind of ignoring the possibility of Kodoha Faction Japan coming through with the Three Alls taken up to 11, but then again he's already in deep with the Japanese anyway.

--South America is a lot of fun and variety, especially Brazil and the Southern Cone. Socialist Argentina is a huge challenge but a lot of fun if you win, with a good balance between nice paths, asshole paths, and "these guys need to lay off the goddamn drugs" paths.

--Central America and Cuba also have a lot of variety, the former has some super engaging gameplay too while the latter is more about the journey of forming a new regime.

--Free Indochina is fantastic. You really get a feeling of building a country from the ground up.

The Panzer Corps and Strategic Mind series have alternate campaigns that get pretty nutty (like a Japanese Pacific campaign that culminates in Japan attacking the Panama Canal!)

Ultimate General Civil War is a pretty in-depth game as well.

World in Conflict requires major suspension of belief but is relatively unique for being a decent Red Dawn type of game.

Honestly surprised no one has suggested Victoria II or the Command & Conquer series yet either, lol.

If you’re more into shooters then Singularity, Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty, and the Wolfenstein series. There are plenty more so I’ll just drop a few links since I haven’t played a lot of these:

EDIT: I’ll toss this in too because it made me laugh: https://www.thegamer.com/most-historically-inaccurate-video-games/

I completely forgot to mention the Warriors games. They’re based on historical events and mostly feature real people from their respective eras. They then take that and throw in some over-the-top weapons and abilities that lets you mow down entire armies single-handedly. It’s mindless fun but you actually can learn stuff from it.
Dynasty Warriors is set in the Three Kingdoms era of China and includes both historical(-ish) paths as well as alternate paths to change history.
Samurai Warriors is set in the Sengoku Jidai of Japan and stays a bit closer to history; it’s pretty lacking in alternate paths.

Word of advice though, stay away from Dynasty Warriors 9 as it’s literal garbage. It failed so hard the devs have put the series on hiatus despite popping installments out like gum balls before.

By World In Flames do you meant World in Conflict, or is there a different game?

I enjoyed World In Conflict, it's a nice game.

Here's what I'm generally looking for:
I haven't played it myself, but it seems like Iron Harvest is right up your alley. It is an RTS game in the vein of titles like Company of Heroes and Dawn of War, and is set in the aftermath of an alternate WW1 where Europe erupts into conflict in the 1920s using diesel powered mechs. It has a story campaign (and a DLC that adds even more missions), so that should give you something to explore.

Here's some faction trailers I found on YouTube:

Those seem to be from before the game was released, so there might've been some tweaks here and there. I'm waiting for a Steam Sale down the road before I get it myself :p
