Ardasher I fails to overthrow Artabanus V

Historically, the first sassanin emperor Ardasher I managed to overthrow the last parthian emperor Artabanus V. Assuming Ardasher I fails, what happens next?

The Romans are very happy they get to continue dealing with the Parthians instead of the expansionist, militarist Sassanids. Presumably this saves them a lot of money defending their eastern border which may help the Empire in the long run.

Probably not much longer until another vassal rebels and overthrows the Parthians. Not sure which satrap would be likely to do so. It'd be interesting to see if such new dynasts continue the Pro-Hellenism tolerance of the Parthians, or follow like the OTL Sassanids in promoting a more pure Iranian identity.

This is kinda what im aiming for, a parthia that survives for a bit longer before it gets replaced by another satrap or a steppe tribe. Im thinking that ardashir gets killed during one of his battles for control of iran. Then artabanus tries to fix up the problems of the parthian empire with limited success. When he dies then i might end the parthians.
