Sam Houston is Dead!

Sam Houston, the Hero of the Battle of San Jacinto, has been declared dead by his doctors in the United States were he was seeking treatment of an ankle injury from the aforementioned battle. The famous soldier and politician was considered a shoo-in for the office of president in the upcoming election. The doctor over-looking his care has said, "When he arrived he looked to be making a recovery, but then about a month ago, it turned septic. I waited, then urged amputation, but he refused, preferring to wait. Unfortunately, he did not relent until the infection had spread, and on June 26th, he died." Many, including Mirabeau Lamar, another candidate for president, hailed Houston as a visionary, a man of peace, the father of our country and a Texan George Washington. Mr. Lamar is now considered the favored candidate for the presidency. His body is being returned to his native Tennessee for burial.
