Apple gets bought out in 1995

In the mid-90s, Apple was doing terribly. It considered selling itself to other companies like Sun Microsystems and several others and it was only due to the fact that these deals fell through that Steve Jobs was able to come back.

Suppose the company did get bought out.

What happens to the mp3, music, smartphone and tablet industries? Does Steve Jobs still become influential due to being at NeXT?

Back then, Sun's business model was built more to be first to volume with a good idea, rather than be first to create a new technology. They were pretty successful on both the hardware & software sides for a time.

Kind of a different culture from Steve Jobs.
