Anyone but Paladino, New York 2010

In 2010, the GOP primary boiled down to two candidates. Rick Lazio, most well known for losing a high profile race to Hilary Clinton in 2000 in a not so graceful race. His competitor was Carl Paladino, a Buffalo area business man who managed to win the primary by getting the west of the state pissed off at everyone else. Paladino then proceeded to have numerous scandals, campaign horribly, and ended up losing a lot of the Republican base, winning on 33% of the vote despite Elliot Spitzer's scandal and the many failures of Governor Paterson fresh in voters minds.

Who else could become the nominee, and could any of them beat Cuomo?

Honestly, he's much more preferable to Paladino.

And that's saying something!

It is sort of hard to find anybody who would want to go against the well-groomed son of a popular Governor.

Just to throw some out:

Pete King might do it.

John McHugh was just appointed SecArmy, probably wouldn't want to leave the post but the bipartisan credentials of working in the Obama Administration may help.

Bob Turner could aim higher instead of a Congressional seat.
