As it says on the tin. Any timelines about templars on the forum?

not that i'm aware of, but i decided to check on the wiki and this one is the only result

on my own part, i've never really considered writing a timeline specifically about the Templars, but a background element of one TL i have in mind is basically a reversal of Assassin's Creed which would focus on the Templars instead; in a separate work entirely, one part of a string of episodic sub-stories within the larger plot would involve two major characters traveling through the Alps in the early 14th century and happening across an aged banker who is actually a Templar, but he's pretty much the last one with no chance of their organization ever coming back (and even then he wouldn't have been an original Templar, just the son or grandson of someone who actually fought in the Crusades who subscribes to their ideology)

Thanks for the link

That sounds really cool. I myself have an idea for a Templar timeline where they continue to focus on banking and mercenary work but have no idea how to approach this.:(

well conceivably you could look at OTL events in the history of banking and conflicts of the period to get some ideas, perhaps just inserting the Templars into those. in a continued Templar TL, i'd imagine that they would maintain their role as crusader soldiers for a while but ultimately go mostly to banking (and would draw most of their power from that) with the later parts of the TL focusing more on their economic effects on history and conflicts that arise from that. to give some OTL precedent, the Medici rose to power among the Italian aristocracy because of the influence of their banks, and that was actually why the Pazzi Conspiracy took place (and, of course, i only know this because in Assassin's Creed II it was a Templar conspiracy :D). basically, you could reimagine the whole Pazzi conspiracy idea with the Templars as an organization replacing the Medici with some rival group (perhaps even another crusader order?) as expys of the Pazzi and their allies and transplanting the events to a different country, like France or Switzerland, or having it take place earlier or later in history depending on what you want to write.
