Any possible American military involvement in other countries ala Vietnam?

This is just a general question of mine but other than Vietnam, could a similar war akin to our Vietnam War could had happened in another country? Sorry for the general question but it's something that has been itching me.

sure, any time frame you looking for? I think our bombings of Cambodia and Laos and the secret invasion of Cambodia could of lead too the Vietnam War growing, if you're looking for a way different war... the Angolan Civil War was a proxy war between the USA and the USSR, looks a lot like Vietnam War, a fight against an American allied colonial power that turns into a Communist Vs non-Communist civil war, so rather than trust South Africa to do our dirty work the US puts boots on the ground, also the Mozambican Civil War.

Anything within the time-frame from 1960-1975 though I do not mind anything earlier or latter than that. Laos and Cambodia are nice suggestions but I prefer something not directly or indirectly involved with Vietnam. A war in a country like Vietnam but somewhere else. Sorry if I'm explaining it pretty badly.

Angola and Mozambique are good options. I think a conflict in an African nation would be a lot more unpopular, especially among the African American community. It's for a short story I'm writing.

Doesn't involve America, but I've always quite fancied the idea of an extended Italian colonial empire and an Italian 'Vietnam' in Libya to keep hold of the oil.

Confrontation against Indonesia in Borneo. If the US had not been drawn into Vietnam, there was a possibility that might have been drawn into Konfrontasi. Afterall, it was closely allied to three of the protagonists on one side and loosely allied to the other side.

Just maybe Yemen, considering the burgeoning importance of Persian Gulf oil and gradual British East-of Suez withdrawal at that time.
