Antony's intentions pre-Cleo

This doesn't pertain much to alternate history, but do any of my fellow Roman historians know Antony's initial intentions before arriving in Tarsus, before Cleopatra swept him away to Alexandria? The sources say he sail to Ephesus before marching to Cappadocia, and then Tarsus. Was he planning to march back to Ephesus and reboard the ship he sailed in on?

Well, AFAIK Antony's original intention for summoning Cleopatra (then a ruling Egyptian Queen) to Tarsus was to forge an alliance with her...
The Second Triumvirate has partitioned the dying Republic amongst themselves: Lepidus get Hispania and Africa, Octavian get Italia and Gaul, while Antony get the provinces in the East...so it was Antony's business to took care of the Egyptians and Parthians...
But, ironically enough, at the meeting they become lovers, and then Cleo invite Antony to Alexandria...

If I recall wasn't it Antonys intention to carry out Julius Caesars original plan of invading Parthia first? Although he did attempt to carry it out if I recall he didn't have massive victories and Octavian began working against him and not giving him the supplies and men that had been agreed at the treaty of Brundisium.

At the time of Antony's march through Asia Minor, he was planning the invasion of Parthia. Actually, I think he was planning the invasion of Parthia directly after forming alliance with Cleopatra. So, I don't think he was going to return to those ships in Ephesus after Asia Minor.
