Another Year in the Life of America's Game

Click here to read A Year In the Life of America's Game.

In Eugene, they haven't forgotten.

So close. Undefeated. 13-0. But not quite good enough. A play here, a play there, Ohio State eking one out versus Michigan, Florida State and Virginia in overtime. That's the only thing separating the Ducks from the national championship.

In Blacksburg, they haven't forgotten.

Criticized for their schedule, the Hokies took care of business. And the rest of the Conference USA did their part. However, a late loss to West Virginia took Virginia Tech out of both the Fiesta Bowl and the Bowl Championship Series conversation.

In Columbus, they haven't forgotten.

A team of destiny. The best Buckeye squad in thirty years. The ones that would end the drought. They couldn't do it, though, as Florida State outclassed them in a desert meeting for the ages.

Yep, no one has forgotten. Everyone wants revenge. It's New Orleans or bust for college football's finest.

Welcome to 1999.
